The United Republic of Tanzania participates in several international space governance frameworks and has enacted several regulations on satellite communications in its territory.

The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) is responsible for regulating satellite-based communications.

Key positions outlined in the National ICT Policy of Tanzania (2016) outline how the State has strengthened its cooperation and collaboration with international bodies including the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (ITSO) and Regional African Satellite Communication (RASCOM), among others.

The State is party to the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, the International Telecommunication Constitution and Convention, and the Partial Test Ban Treaty.

Tanzania is a Member State to the International Telecommunication Union and the African Space Agency, and a subscribing State to the Hague Code of Conduct Against Ballistic Missile Proliferation.

As a member State to the African Union, Tanzania adheres to the established space framework by the African Union including key positions like the African Space Policy and African Space Strategy.
