Tunisia established the National Commission of Outer Space Affairs in 1984, and the National Center for Mapping and Remote Sensing in 1988 which operates under the Ministry of National Defence.Tunisia is part of several cooperation agreements including the Arab Space Cooperation Group, the ArabSat and the Regional Centre for Remote Sensing for North African Countries (CRTEAN). As a member State to the African Union, Tunisia adheres to the established space framework by the African Union including key positions like the African Space Policy and African Space Strategy.
