<p>The Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste plans to launch a satellite through collaboration with local and international partners. It has also established <a href="https://cms.spacesecurityportal.org/uploads/DL_2008_21_Implementation_Satellite_System_Monitoring_Fishing_Vessels_5e29edf90b.pdf" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">plans to implement a Vessel Monitoring System</a> to regulate illegal fishing and also strengthen security at sea using satellite technology.</p><p>Timor-Leste is a Member State to the International Telecommunication Union, acceded to the International Telecommunication Constitution and Convention, and is a subscribing state to the Hague Code of Conduct Against Ballistic Missile Proliferation.</p>
