Sudan has outlined its space ambitions with the planned launch of the Sudan Earth Observation Satellite (SEOS). Its space engagements are coordinated through the Sudan National Survey Authority, together with the National Centre for Research which houses the Space and Aeronautics Research Institute and the Remote Sensing and Seismology Authority whose establishment dates back to 1977.

Sudan is also a member of the Arab Corporation for Space, the African Space Agency, and the Regional Centre for Remote Sensing for North African States through which it participates in various space activities including governance frameworks. The defence of the country is coordinated through the Ministry of Defence of Sudan with cooperation from the Military Industry Corporation Sudan including in aerospace. 

As a member State to the African Union, Sudan adheres to the established space framework by the African Union, including key positions like the African Space Policy and African Space Strategy.
