Somalia is a member of the African Space Agency, the ITU, and the Hague Code of Conduct Against Ballistic Missile Proliferation.

National responsibilities related to security, communications and telecommunications are supported by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Communications and Technology, while cooperation with the ITU and the establishment of a national frequency monitoring centre demonstrate efforts to strengthen communications and spectrum management capabilities.

As a member State of the African Union, Sierra Leone adheres to the established space framework by the African Union including key positions like the African Space Policy and African Space Strategy.
