Seychelles is an active participant in the international space governance framework, having engaged with key multilateral treaties relevant to space security. The State is party to the Outer Space Treaty, the Rescue Agreement, the Liability Convention, the Registration Convention, and the Partial Test Ban Treaty.
Seychelles also ratified the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, is Member State to the International Telecommunication Union, and a subscribing State to the Hague Code of Conduct Against Ballistic Missile Proliferation.
At the national level, the Seychelles Meteorological Authority plays a central role in leveraging space-based technologies to support weather forecasting and climate monitoring, which are vital for the island nation’s resilience to climate-related hazards.
