Paraguay is party to several major international legal instruments related to space and arms control. These include the Outer Space Treaty, the Convention on Registration of Objects Launched into Outer Space, and the Convention on International Liability for Damage Caused by Space Objects. Paraguay also ratified the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty and signed the Treaty Banning Nuclear Weapon Tests in the Atmosphere, in Outer Space and Under Water. Paraguay also acceded to the International Telecommunication Constitution and Convention.
Paraguay has been a member of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space since 2018 and contributes to discussions on space security in the United Nations General Assembly First Committee. Paraguay is also a member of the International Telecommunication Union and subscribes to the Hague Code of Conduct Against Ballistic Missile Proliferation. The country is a founding member of the Latin American and Caribbean Space Agency (ALCE).
