Mauritania is party to the Partial Test Ban Treaty, the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty and the International Telecommunication Constitution and Convention. The country is a member State to the International Telecommunication Union, the African Space Agency, and a subscribing State to the Hague Code of Conduct Against Ballistic Missile Proliferation. Mauritania is also a member State to the Arab Space Cooperation Group and is represented by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

As a member State to the African Union, Mauritania adheres to the established space framework by the African Union including key positions like the African Space Policy and African Space Strategy.
