Lesotho has demonstrated plans to engage in space activities by hosting space science training under Mission ShakthiSat and through the Lesotho Communications Authority's commitment to using satellite-based services.

Lesotho has ratified the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty and the International Telecommunication Constitution and Convention. Lesotho is a subscribing State to the Hague Code of Conduct Against Ballistic Missile Proliferation. Lesotho is also a member State to the International Telecommunication Union and the African Space Agency.

As a member State of the African Union, Lesotho adheres to the established space framework by the African Union including key positions like the African Space Policy and African Space Strategy.
