The National Space Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KazCosmos) was established in 2007 through Decree No. 302 of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Resolution No. 438 of May 29, 2007 regulates the National Space Agency of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan's space activities are regulated through Law No. 528-IV of January 06, 2012. The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan through its Aerospace Committee performs the regulatory and control functions in the field of space activities.
Kazakhstan has also ratified key international treaties including the Outer Space Treaty and Rescue Agreement. Key contemporary positions on space security include Kazakhstan's commitment not to be the first to place weapons in outer space.
