Jamaica does not have a national space programme however Jamaica’s Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) employs satellite imagery to strengthen disaster risk management, highlighting the country’s use of space technologies to support resilience and emergency response efforts.
Jamaica has also ratified key treaties such as the Outer Space Treaty (1970) and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (2001). In addition, the country has signed the Rescue Agreement and the Partial Test Ban Treaty. Jamaica has been a member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) since 1963.
