Ireland has developed policies focused on space including a National Space Strategy for Entreprises. It also supports international cooperation in the space domain through its participation in key multilateral treaties such as the Outer Space Treaty and the Rescue Agreement. Ireland is also a member State to the European Space Agency (ESA).
As a member State to the European Union, Ireland adheres to the established space framework by the European Union including but not limited to the Space Strategy for Europe and the European Union Space Strategy for Security and Defence, and the political commitment not to conduct destructive, direct-ascent anti-satellite (ASAT) missile testing.
