The Hungarian Space Office (HSO) was established in 1992 and is responsible for the management, coordination, and representation of Hungarian space activities. The government published the Space Strategy of Hungary in 2021, which called for the creation of a national space agency and an organizational and normative framework for coordination of Hungarian space activities. Hungary is a member to the European Space Agency, and as a Member State to the European Union, Hungary adheres to the established space framework by the European Union including key positions like the Space Strategy for Europe, European Union Space Strategy for Security and Defence.
