The Space Science and Geospatial Institute (SSGI) is Ethiopia's main space body established in 2022. The SSGI is overseen by the Ministry of Innovation and Technology which is also responsible for space policy and strategy.
Ethiopia's space activity is outlined in the Ethiopian Space Policy wherein it states that development processes in the national space sector should be carried out in two separate but mutually supportive sectors, namely the civil and national defense and security sectors.
As a member State to the African Union, Ethiopia adheres to the established space framework by the African Union including key positions like the African Space Policy and African Space Strategy.
