The Arab Republic of Egypt’s space programme is largely civilian. Egypt established the Egyptian Space Agency in 2018 under the Law No. 3 of 2018. Egypt has been active in multilateral discussions on the prevention of arms race in outer space (PAROS), having co-sponsored the UNGA First Committee Resolution titled “Prevention of an Arms Race in Outer Space” since 1983. Egypt is also a member to the African Space Agency which is headquartered in the Egyptian capital of Cairo.
As a member State to the African Union, Egypt adheres to the established space framework by the African Union including key positions like the African Space Policy and African Space Strategy.
