On 04 June 2025, the Council of Ministers under the chairmanship of the President of Côte d'Ivoire adopted a decree on the creation, powers, organization and operation of the l’Agence Spatiale de Côte d’Ivoire (ASCI). ASCI, as a Public Administrative Establishment of a Scientific and Technological nature, will be placed under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Côte d'Ivoire is a party to the Partial Test Ban Treaty, the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty and the International Telecommunication Constitution and Convention. The country is also a Member State to the International Telecommunication Union and the African Space Agency.
As a Member State to the African Union, Côte d’Ivoire adheres to the established space framework by the African Union including key positions like the African Space Policy and African Space Strategy.
