In 2021, Costa Rica established its space agency, the Agencia Espacial Costarricense (Costa Rican Space Agency (AEC)) through Legislative Decree No. 9960 of 2021. The Ministry of Science, Innovation, Technology and Telecommunications will form guidelines to help oversee the development of the Agency.
