The Chilean Ministry of National Defense is responsible for both civil and military programs. The Space Directorate of the Chilean Air Force is responsible for military space operations, and the Aerophotogrammetric Service of the Chilean Air Force is responsible for remote sensing data and satellite imagery services for both military and civilian applications. Chile's Ministry of National Defense also overseas the National Space System. The National Space System includes a national space policy council, national space programs, and ground-based space infrastructure. 

Chile is a Member State to the United Nations Conference on Disarmament, the International Telecommunications Union, and the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space.
