Bahrain's space activities are overseen by the Bahrain Space Agency (BSA), established in 2014 under Royal Decree No. 11/2014. BSA is responsible for regulating and advancing the country’s space sector, promoting scientific research, and aligning space initiatives with national development goals. Bahrain's National Space Policy aims to position the country as a regional leader in space exploration and technology, focusing on satellite development, international collaboration, and the integration of space technology into various sectors. The BSA Strategic Plan (2024-2028) prioritizes regulatory development, infrastructure enhancement, and capacity building to strengthen Bahrain’s role in the global space community.
Internationally, Bahrain is a party to key space-related treaties, including the Outer Space Treaty, Liability Convention, and Registration Convention.
BSA’s memberships in international space organizations enable global collaboration, access to cutting-edge technologies, and participation in space exploration and climate monitoring. These partnerships drive knowledge exchange, capacity building, and joint projects, aligning with BSA’s sustainability and innovation goals while bolstering Bahrain’s national development.
