Algeria's space activities are regulated by it's national Law on Space Activities, Law N° 19-06. The Law stipulates that space activities are under exclusive monopoly of the State and as such Algeria's space activities are overseen by the Algerian Space Agency (ASAL), established in 2002. ASAL designs and implement national space policies, and the key directive for ASAL includes the National Space Program 2006-2020.
Additionally, ASAL oversees four operating entities: the Center for Space Technology (CTS); Center for Space Applications (CAS); Satellite Development Center (CDS) and Telecommunications Systems Operations Center (CEST). The board of directors for ASAL is made up of representatives across 15 ministerial departments alongside a scientific committee.
Furthermore, as a member State to the African Union, Algeria adheres to the established space framework by the African Union including key positions like the African Space Policy and African Space Strategy.
