The United Nations has multiple offices and bodies that oversee outer space governance discussions. Discourse that is specifically concerned with outer space security happens under the umbrella concept of a Prevention of an Arms Race in Outer Space (PAROS) and takes place largely within the Conference on Disarmament, the Disarmament Commission and First Committee of the General Assembly. Discourse centered on space safety and more broadly the peaceful uses of outer space happens largely within the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space and the Fourth Committee of the General Assembly.
